Ukraine was a part of the Soviet Union from 1922 until 1991 and that was not a problem for the US or Europe or NATO. The US has given Ukraine 60 billion dollars so far with no end of the war in sight. Should Ukraine survive with any part of its country intact the US will have to pay billions to rebuild Ukraine.
