I found a stray on the streets of NYC's East Village. He was almost that malnourished. And filthy, with a torn and bloody ear. He walked up to me on a rainy night, flopped over on the sidewalk for me to rub his filthy belly and looked up at me with the most trusting eyes. I thought, "I can't leave him." So, I picked him up, took him all the way uptown on the 1 train, and he was with me for the next 12 years. RIP Humbert!

When they're that starved, they get cold so easily- he was looking for warmth, but he got more than that- he got love.

This is why I defy laws that say, don't feed stray cats. My cat "Trinket" was only 6 weeks old and starving when I found her in my backyard fighting the crows for crusts of bread. I couldn't turn my back on her and leave her to starve. I brought her in, fed her, had her spay, got her wormed and her shots. She went from miserable and skinny to fat and sassy within a few months.

Never in my life had i seen a cat so devistatingly malnourished like that. Almost skinny enough to be a considered a breathing corpse. Bless you too all those who helped restore the vitality of this precious creature.
