Lawn Mower Ceramic Coating Debunking - GOOD or BAD????

Turtle wax Ceramic Spray Coating - may be good for cars but it is useless for lawn mower decks. So I have received a bunch of comments from some serious lawn gurus that this stuff will keep the underbelly of your mower squeaky clean and running optimality. So of course KiteArmy accepted the challenge and the results are in.
In this video I test Turtle Wax Ceramic Spray Coating from Amazon on an EGO select cut xp 56v battery lawn mower. Good or Bad, watch to find out :)

As another reader mentioned Slip Plate might be your answer. It is a dry film Graphite that you paint on with a brush. Others have reported great results using it on lawnmower decks and snowblower chutes. Might make for a good video, hint-hint.

I use it on my lawn mower and snow thrower. Works great on snow thrower. On the Lawn mower, if the grass is wet it will stick. But the good news it cleans off much easier. No scraping, just wipe with a rag and it’s clean.
I use the TW Hybrid solutions graphene spray

I used that on my vehicle. Says to do only 2 sprays per panel and has a 24 hour cure time before full effectiveness.

Interesting. I have always just sprayed the bottom of the deck with Pam cooking spray before each mow. It works fantastic! Thanks for the vid!

What I've seen in these similar videos, people fail because of they fail to follow the instructions. For best results you are supposed to apply the coating in clean surface (clean it with soap and solvents), dry the surface, apply the products as it is told in the instuctions of the product, let it cure and apply more coats if needed and again let it cure accordingly. This turtle wax product is not the best for plastic materials (as in automotive plastic coating products), but it's better than nothing when applied properly. It won't help massivly on grass buildup but it will in cleaning the surfaces.

Slip Plate is the one to use.
Nice, music and video!

This idea has been around for ever. I’ve used a spray called Mo-deck in the past and def helps keep it cleaner. Some use Pam cooking spray with good results. I don’t mow grass when it’s wet. Always creates a mess and if you don’t get it all off the mower, stinks up the garage quick.

On a separate note ceramic spray waxes (at least the ones I've used) are much easier/faster to apply and buff off and last just as long if not longer than a good synthetic or carnauba wax so that will give you more time to tediously clean the mower decks lol. A good tip is I spray some ceramic wax on my air conditioners before I put them in so when I take them back out in the fall they usually just need wiped off and in hopes that it helps the paint from turning chalky from the sun.

Thanks for running this test as I was curious if it does work. I do apply Meguiar's Hybrid Ceramic Wax on my snow blower and notice a difference. Perhaps make video for that in the winter and apply Turtle wax ceramic on one side and Meguiar's Hybrid Ceramic Wax on the other.

First of all the Turtle Wax Ceramic is recommended to use 2 coats 24 hours apart. Second, a painted surface is the recommended surface.

LOL! The ceramic coating only works for the EGO snow blower. It helps keep the shoot from clogging with snow. It needs to be applied after each use of snow blowing. Cheers.

Doesn't look like it does good for getting grass clippings to fall off, but I'm curious if it does any kind of corrosion protection or if once it cakes up if it falls off easier than the other side.

I use this turtle wax hybrid on my cars and the wax does AMAZING on them. It really brings out of the shine and it lasts the whole year or more. Haven't even rewaxed my mustang this year yet when I went to wash it for the warmer weather we were getting all the pollen and dust build up came right off with just some soapy water. Didn't even hand wash it. I also use cerakote on the trim. Since thats a plastic deck and cerakote leaves a somewhat oily residue I wonder if that would do better!

I think a leaf blower or hose it off, to see which side sticks more. I think slick side rather than grass sticks side, is what we're after.

I use the Turtle Wax ceramic or the Seal n Shine on the top side of my EGO. On my tractors 42" metal deck I use a spray on bedliner underneath to keep it from rusting

Spray on ceramic wax works good, if you do the follow up work. NOTHING will magically make an entire mower deck as smooth and non-stick as an aluminum Teflon frying pan. The secret is to take 5 minutes (yes, literally 5 minutes) and clean the entire under deck after every single use. The ceramic spray will help make this work much faster and easier. If you are lazy and only clean your mower only once a year, it's a nightmare and nothing really works well then.

I mow multiple properties with my EGO mower. It's a real mess in my SUV if I don't clean the underside of the mower after each use. I keep a bottle of Meguiars waterless car wash and a Dollar Tree toilet brush in the car. A few squirts and a brush, and a blast of air from my EGO blower, clean and shiny and slippery.

just a word of advice its not the mess you should worry about, all grass when cut becomes wet, grass i will eat your deck if left on hold moisture on deck .
