Making a Paperback into a Leather bound Hardcover
Показать описание
As a birthday present, I decided to make custom leather-bound hardcovers for the "A Song of Ice and Fire" paperback book set (more commonly known as Game of Thrones). This is a video of making the cover for Book 2 of the series, I hope you enjoy!
Supplies List
-Faux Leather (I purchased mine from Walmart)
-cardboard (used to give that "hard cover" book structure)
-sandpaper (to sand down the old glue on the spine)
-craft thread (like the kind to make friendship bracelets; used to make the "headbands" on the spine)
-Nylon String (or any kind of string, depending on how fat you want your "headband" to be)
-Mod Podge
-ribbon (I attach it under the headband along the spine to be used as a bookmark)
-E6000 glue (to attach the metal numbers to the spine)
-Parchment paper (the kind you write on, not the kind you cook with. This is added as front and back pages to attach the cover to)
-cloth strip (although the parchment paper can be used as well, I used it here to add extra strength to the spine since the faux leather cover would not be attached directly to the spine)
-Wax Paper (used to protect the book when I was ready to glue the cover to the book)
-clamps (used to secure the numbers glued to the cover)
-Scissors, razor blade, ruler, pliers and brush (cutting, measuring, metalwork and applying...as needed)
-something heavy, flat and big enough to completely cover book or cover while glue is drying
-Accessory embellishments of your choosing
-I used metal book corner protectors
-I used small metal numbers from the craft store to indicate the correct book in the series
-I used small grommets on the top of the spine to securely attach the keychain accessory (I removed the keyring)
