Elements of Art -Line

This is a short animated video that I created in Procreate about the element of line and how it is used to make art. We sometimes question how to use elements of art in an artwork or what are the artistic tools of an artist. My answer is to begin with line.

With lines we can draw our favorite cartoon characters, the people we love or a beautiful landscape. We do not have to use color or shading to create a finished work, as long as we have the element of line. Lines make shapes and varying shapes make art.

So, what are the elements of art? The elements of art are building blocks of art as a whole. While there are 7 elements of art (line, color, value, shape, form, space, and texture), this short video focuses on line and a bit on shape. This would be a great way to introduce beginner artists to the elements of art as well as to encourage them to just start creating.
