1:30 it may not have crownguards but the crown is slightly recessed into the case when screwed down, which protects it from getting snagged

I have this one. I was so impressed that I bought it immediately at launch.
It has just all the elements that I always missed at Seiko: saphire, milled clasp, steel chapter ring, simple but elegant hr/min/sec markers…
The only thing missing is links with screws.
I wear submariner regularly, but this watch can clearly compete with it! Imo it is even a better watch than a tudor.

I returned mine that lume pip on the 3oclock is horrible, i got the old version nextday UK delivery yesterday. Very very rare to find now and will be a collector’s edition soon.

Really liked the review. This would be a great watch to recommend to a friend who just wants a good watch but is not a watch nerd. Great size and profile for every day wear and you get a full ISO diver certification. For me - sapphire or ceramic bezel please. One think I like about Seiko divers is they are usually shiny!

The SLA017 is a 62mas reissue and is Seiko best diver as the movement is way better than the 6r35. It also has a better bezel, dial and case coating.

Just received mine, love it. Might not be for everyone but the so called asymmetrical lume doesn't really bother me but everyone's entitled to their own opinion.

The Smiths is not a homage as it was also taken up Everest on that famous first accent. Also the NH 35 is the 4 r in seiko watches the 6 R is the same movement just with more power reserve. Try it on an FKM rubber strap it wears so well and looks great on a tropic or the waffle.

Regarding the movement: It’s not a whole lot better than an NH35 - same movement family, just more power reserve.

i like the old dial. the new spb143 dial has that asymmetric lume at the 3 o’clock that drives me nuts
