I knew Ian at Antioch and later in New York. Once drove with him and Gail Ettus to Yale where there was a music scene in the basement of one of the dorms.  He was a maniac driver. I don't think I've ever been so afraid in a car. He had a way of evading the tolls on the Merritt/Wilbur Cross Parkway that meant turning off just before the tolls and screeching through the neighborhoods till he could get on the parkway again. I was terrified but we did get to Yale. He was the best guitarist I ever saw.
