Easy to knock this coverage if you're used to the sailmedia quality - although it took that team a little while to get all the gremlins removed and the cameracat purring. While the sound and vision might not be perfect here, it's a lot better than nothing (and free!). Well done to the 18 footers for providing the coverage and bringing the class to a worldwide audience.

It is seriously unbelievable that people are knocking the coverage. Clearly no idea, on how these things work. Credit where credit is due that that organisers and supplier could come to an arrangement within budget to get a pretty quality product out to the viewers FOR FREE to the consumer might I add.... It is Let's examine why the sport in this country is struggling. Maybe a snapshot of the comment section here could explain it. The holistic coverage of social media, live broadcasts, bite-sized minis of the day's racing, like, give me an absolute This is taking a product to the masses. With the more openness of the bay where you have a wider field of play than the harbour (natural boundaries), combined with the weather, this has been an outstanding product, all delivered within a budget... Sure the commentators could have done some more research, but the incumbents also could of tried to work within the budget, but they need to make a quid too and if you run at a loss, what is the point? There are reasons for everything. Just be happy you can sit at work and watch 18footer racing rather than having a whinge.

Lazarus is dragging a bunch of the damned weed on leg 3

I'm sorry guys, but the coverage has been poor: apart from the technical difficulties with sound and picture which you didn't resolve from Day 1, you were in the way yesterday, kept calling Finport Finsport (which you just did again!), and now from the start of Race 2, constantly referring to Yandoo as Lazarus - even after they tacked etc - is just piss poor. What part of a bright blue boat without Lazarus written on the sail didn't alert you? Didn't even notice the capsize at the bottom mark - we've only done 2 legs! I may have to turn the sound off! It's like this the first time you have watched 18 footers! BTW, you got worse: you didn't have a clue what was going on at the bottom mark when the squall came through, and that Lazarus couldn't get born away to get to the bottom mark so decided to sail on, granny it round and come back. And if you call Yandoo "Vandoo" one more time...

what are those dark lumps floating in the water ? weed ? man, there are huge rafts of weed as well. that will really affect the results. stalled foils and shallow water, yikes !

Pretty average coverage. Calling the boats by the wrong name, cutting out microphones, was much better when I turned the commentary off
