Oh the adorable weird feeling within my heart when this song starts playing... A mix of nostalgia, hope and pride all together. I've just turned 27, no intentions of getting married nor having kids, but currently watching some of my friends doing so,  watching their  joys, dramas and losses. Listening to this gives me both that funny feeling of  catching a glimpse of a portrait of what-could-be-of-my-life-if-I-was-following-the-rules, as a fake nostalgia, but also some vanity about being paving my own way, on my own terms and according to whatever goes in my soul, even though at times it can be hard to feel like I'm driving the wrong way.

Somehow the lyrics just make me want to promise myself even more to never relate to it - no kids, no dystopia, no boredom, no fear.

It particularly reminds me of a happy summer in the Irish countryside, playing this on repeat while stuck on a bus going to Skerries.

From time to time I just can't help but play this over and over again while dancing around non-stop.

As a chap from almost the very south of England I was an early champion of Mogwai, I fucking would not shut up about them, but Belle and Sebastian didn't do a lot for me. Almost thirty years later I still love Mogwai, but this band that seemed kind of fragile, delicate and not long for this world released this track recently. I heard it on the Steve Lamacq show.

I loved it. So I listened to more and more of their stuff and they are amazing. Seriously good in the same way that Rush are seriously good when you discover them at the age of fifty.

So there we are, I have just compared Belle and Sebastian to Rush, which no plonker on the NME ever did! Also, the bass player is brilliant, but as a hobby bassist I'm a bit biased.

I now enjoy driving up the high street in my Vauxhaul Corsa, windows down, blasting out Belle and Sebastian whilst the "youths"with their grim and bass look at the old boy with a grey beard and wonder what the hell is that all about.

This song feels extremely retrospective and I love it.

best thing about getting old: no time for mucking about.

ditch the extended intro; stuart and co. launch right into it in this chanson.

quelle joie profonde.
