This is very sad. We all can appreciate how cold it was, and how we had to find ways to keep warm.
I had heard that he was asleep with a three year old sibling yet the other child ok. I think an autopsy should be done to make sure as to the cause of death. I also think that is way too much money to sue for.

It is sad that people don't know what to do. They could have had their child sleep with them and share their 98 degree body heat. They could put on extra clothes and blankets. They could pee in a bottle and bring that under their blankets. They could close off into a smaller room or space to confine radiant heat, even a tent inside the home would work. They could put a clay flower pot over a candle to create a radiant heater. They could eat something and their body will produce heat. Someone needs to write a book called "Shit you need to know" and put in basic knowledge people need to know.

Shouldn't child protective services be investigating how a child that big dies of exposure in a habitation. Didn't he have any blankets or sweaters or a mother to keep him warm?

Seems like the parents fault to me...
They need to investigate whoever was responsible for him as well as test them for drugs.
