I always feel scared and a little depressed when a life changing event like this happens. From the bridge collapsing to 9/11, I can't help but to think about the lives that were lost. Although I don't know anyone involved in these situations, I still shed a few tears for the families in grief for a loved one. I can't imagine how that must feel to lose someone in a matter of seconds.

Amazing how the engine funnels are belching smoke right up to the point of impact even when the lights are off and we were told the ship had no propulsion during that time. Amazing how that ship made a right turn directly into the support seconds before the impact. Amazing how the last two minutes before hitting the bridge support the ships data recorder just happened to be deleted. Amazing how we were told this ship was operating normally up until just a few moments before the collision Amazing how this ship was a half mile from the main channel if it lost power just before the impact. Just amazing!

What everybody is missing is that there is a procedure in place for ships to be in contact with the bridge in case something happens. That allowed the bridge to shut down traffic which substantially cut the death toll. The questions really are how to get the road workers on the same frequency. Another larger question is does other bridges over shipping lanes have the same procedures in place?

1 as sad as it is it's like it happened at 1:30 and not in the afternoon when there's been a lot more people on the bridge there would have been a lot more people lost

Could dropping anchor immediately upon power loss stop the boat from moving even close to the bridge? Seems like there was time!

Maybe a stupid question or thought: why don't these major shipping paths have dedicated tug boats escorting these cargo ships through these tight spaces.
If they had them, the tug boats could have kept the cargo ship from crashing into the pylons.

I’m very eager to find out who the guy is that was rescued in the water and he refused any medical treatment and went about his business. Please don’t get me wrong if he doesn’t want to be doxxed and he wants to remain anonymous I totally respect that. But if he does want to come out I’d love to see him and who he is. He is an honest human being and as an amateur that tries to study human behavior I gotta see and hear this man.
