Mahavir Karna is an upcoming Indian epic historical drama film written and directed by R. S. Vimal, starring Vikram .The film is based on the character Karna from the Indian epic Mahabharata. The film is made in Hindi and Tamil languages.
Mahavir Karna was announced in January 2018 by Vimal and Vikram who was cast in the title role, produced by New York-based company United Film Kingdom, on a budget of ₹300 crore.Vimal originally wrote the script in English and Malayalam. The script's Tamil translation was done by B. Jeyamohan, while Suresh Nair translated it into Hindi.According to Vimal, the film is a bilingual made in Hindi and Tamil languages, with dubbed versions in other Indian languages.
However, the project was shelved when Kunnappilly backed out, citing that the budget exceeded ₹60 crore and the final estimated budget was much higher than he could fund. Vimal revealed the updated budget to be ₹300 crore.
