Where To Find Batteries For VHS,VHS-C,Hi8, And Mini DV Camcorders

@Brandon Alldredge: I had a mid 80's VHS hitachi camcorder back in the year 2000 when I was aged 15. The camcorder was given to my brother during the mid 90s from our grandmother. It came with a 12v 1200mah battery pack but no original power supply or charger. The battery attached to the rear of the device not internal sliding, however where the battery fixed was a regular dc power jack and it did come with an aftermarket power supply which worked no issue. I made a makeshift power lead with a dc jack plug on one end and a pair of spade connectors on the other, using a 12v sealed lead acid battery of about 3amp hour allowed semi portable use. The camcorder rested on your shoulder as they did but the rather heavy battery had to go somewhere so I further created a backpack style battery bag and was all set. The camcorder was disposed of in early 2002 after it developed a fault which was already there before the battery mod. Under a side panel was several glass fuses rated at 500mah and one of them kept blowing frequently. No idea what the fuses protected.

I got an rca dsp3 cc422 that an old family member gave me. I believe the batteries are dead bc the power brick light is on but not the “charge “ light. Any good recommendations for a replacement charger/ batteries?

I use Kastar batteries in my old Powershot G2 and they are perfect and they got them to me quickly. I will probably continue to use them if I can find them for other old cameras I get as well

Hoping you're still active on here! I have an old Sears VHS CCD. It needs a VM-BP61AS battery, do you know if a VM-BP64AS would work on it? I sifted through your other comments and looked at Battery Kings, that's where I found it!

I bought the kastar slim camcorder batteries a while back and they seemed to die within 5 minutes, wasnt sure what was up with that

easy to find batteries, but what about the chargers? is there a way to wire up a charger to touch the contact points? I have a Panasonic that uses the stick battery and the new battery isn't charging in the base even though the same base is used to power the camera, just doesn't charge batteries. Do new batteries from online stores arrive with charge?

Hey, any advice on where I could find a JVC GR-AX46 Charger? Been looking everywhere and I’ve seen various types of different ones that look alike. I’m nervous of ordering the wrong one. If you have any tips or recommendations please besides these lmk!

I have a bit of battery PTSD after my Traxxas RC car exploded after charging when I was little. It had an old battery that wasn't touched in about 3 years. As a vintage PC collector I removed all the battery packs out of my laptops. I will say though I have my parents old Songs hi8 tape cam corder and I LOVE the 80s aesthetic it produces. I have an adaptor that lets it run from wall power but batteries I'm hesitant on using. Maybe I could invest in a large battery pack?

With modern battery replacements, do the original chargers work? Initially I’m thinking no because they’re using all new chemistry, but no modern replacements claim to include a charger, I have a JVC GR C7E if that helps

I got a hold of an older Magnavox VHS (hand held) recorder. Looks like the included battery is dead. Is it worth it to convert it to Lithium ion? A replacement battery is around $35

Im in need of those long vhs batteries that get inserted into the camcorder, I bought 2 new ones and both took 2 days to charge each and they only lasted 7 min while recording and if I recharge them I can hear them chirp and hiss like if gas is leaking out from them
