It sounds really nice but it really frustrates me when people review or showcase a 5 string bass or a 7 string guitar for example, and then don't even use the lowest string. Surely he could have at least played it open so we could hear what it sounds like..

I just got a gsr205b. Its the one with the mahogany body with a walnut finish. That bass is totally killer for the price

Poster got the controls mixed up but nice review. I've had one of these for 5 months and I absolutely love it. Looks fabulous, sounds awesome, plays great, and I only paid $300. As good as any of my American basses.

It’s amazing how everyone demoing a 5 string bass never plays the Low B string. Wtf ?
Every bass player in the world already knows what the EADG strings sound like, we come to these 5 string reviews because we want to hear the Low B on the bass being demoed.

OK the controls are (as you look at the bass) top left is bridge volume, top right is neck volume, bottom left is master tone control, and bottom right (baby knob) is a master active boost control (boom). Ditch the cheap strings and spend some cash on a set-up and let it rip. I broke mine in with light flat wound strings (very nice pickup sounds). Also very nice neck for smaller hands with a flat fretboard with a more guitar-like feel. No neck dive and for $300 a nice bass for students or gigging musician (case not included).

that 5 string sounds dynamite . I used to have the 4 string version and I like the way the neck felt . I think I'm gonna get the 205 version . that's the sound I'm looking for . I'm gonna get a hartke hydrive to go along with it . I can't wait

Mine strings were to high so I lowered them at the bridge then tightened the truss rod just a bit and it plays great now with no fret noise at all. Just ordered some XL Chromes flat wound for fun.

he made a misstake with the controls.. fun to presente a bass you dont know ^^ the tone and phatEQ are on the bottom, small one for the tone.. and the two on the top are for pickup volume, the one close to the neck for the one close to the neck ^^
