Major changes in national immigration policies have impacted communities all over Chicago. The COVID-19 pandemic further complicates things. National immigration expert Cecilia Muñoz and New America Chicago Fellow Meegan Dugan Bassett will lead a discussion about new strategies to help build equity and opportunity in immigrant communities given changes in national policies and current events.

The discussion will include the tension between city policy and federal policy and how communities are navigating that challenge. We'll also discuss how current policies are impacting Chicago communities and how nonprofits and philanthropists can respond to community needs.

Hosted by New America and The Chicago Community Trust

Participants:

Karina Ayala-Bermejo
CEO and President, Instituto del Progreso Latino
