Meet Victory of Samothrace / A walk inside the Louvre

Let’s walk inside the Louvre Museum and meet Victory of Samothrace. This incredible Greek sculpture created about 220-185 BC.
This feminine figure on the prow of a ship, with the fresh air moving her clothes backward. She is ready to fly. She is free.
In this difficult period of lockdowns and coronavirus restrictions, this sculpture is here to remind us how it is to be free!

This video was created as a part of the #igotothemuseum campaign which is a reminder to all of us of the importance of art and museums for us and our societies. Museums are closing again. Museums are having important financial problems. USA museums are now free to sell some artworks to survive economically. This is very against the role of museums which is to protect and expose artworks, not to sell them.

So it is our role now to support museums and to show how important they are to us! A visit to the museums that are still open, a donation, or the purchase of the membership card for our future visits can be really helpful. If we all do something small it can create something big.
