This no longer works as of the new release on 7/8/21.
Because of this, I reverted back to Windows 10.
The new Windows 11 start menu is a deal killer for me, and I really hope they fix it.

Well that couldn't have been any easier, right? Thanks Brian, for that quick tutorial. You'd think that whatever gui changes Microsoft makes to their future operating system you should be able to undo or be able to switch back to a prior OS. From windows 7 going forward, they should've been putting in switches or menus choices as a way to go back to a style of operating system you like best and call it a day.

Initially when I saw they were changing the Start Menu (again) I thought well maybe there will be some nice improvements but once again, kinda like when they released Windows 8, I think they actually went backwards. I dont see how the Windows 11 version even remotely makes accessing anything from the Start Menu easier or more organized than the Win 10 Start Menu. It basically seems like they made it flatter and less dynamic by a mile. What am I

This did not work for me. Have there been changes to Windows 11 that will not allow the change?

I had not switched to Windows 11 because I don't like their start menu, so now with you help I have no excuse to switch over. I will back my windows 10 up this weekend and give it a try.

Thank you for pointing this out! On removing 'widgets' down there, can we eliminate All but the start button and search button? Thanks

Brian is it possible to use the registry editor to stop the app windows from being combined on the taskbar? I would rather not have to install a separate bit of software to achieve this. I like to see what I have opened on my task bar at a glance
