Awe you even bought the foam 🥹 you are committed now babes! I’ve just used cardboard or pinned it on sofa cushions, as long as it wets and then dries! That’s all you need to get the job done. Creates so much balance in the stretch of the thread so everything feels more in place

V proud of you for trying new things!! And looking through your old projects

the first time I ever completely SUBMERGED my finished crochet piece i was shaking in my boots scared the dyes would run together instantaneously or something 😂😂 it was a tapestry style scarf for my friend they wear around just about daily now, glad to report it’s held up great in rain, snow, lil coffee dribbles, etc :)

I love the building break to place the traveling villager head on your wall! Which humorously had others on there too! 😂

For acrylic you steam. Acrylic is plastic and once you steam it, it keeps the shape or size you stretch it to. For natural fibers you wet them with a very delicate liquid soap. There are good ones on Pick Knit’s. After you wash and take off the excess water, let it dry completely.

okay after seeing more comments confused about her first sentence and then seeing other comments i guess “block” is the term used to stretch crocheted materials / items 😂😂😂 my head could not fathom that she said blocked even though i heard it ten times 🤣

Yeah I've seen people steam(make sure to not get too close when your material is acrylic-ive heard the acrylic actually melts) and it's a lot better. I just wait til my project's dry. So like over night and next day I take it and do whatevs I need to do next.happy blocking!

Cotton takes the longest to dry since it's very absorbent, so leave it for at least a full day or two. Silk is absorbent, too, but it will feel dry quicker due to the smoother fibers, so probably overnight is sufficient. Wool is designed to be water-resistant, hence why most people soak it, but it should be dry in a few hours, 12 at the maximum. Acrylic yarn usually falls in the 12-24 hour category for me, depending on thickness and ply, so you should be good to remove the pins by this time tomorrow. I have yet to explore the drying time of a bamboo yarn or a mohair, so if someone knowledgeable could continue this thread, I'd welcome your input.

I thought you said you’ve never bought anything and I was trying to process how that could be true 😂

I prefer to use a hand held steamer. Less labor intensive. Love your channel!

You remind me of Chappell Roan for some reason

Just sit until completely dry! For wool that’s a while, but for cotton and acrylic I’d say like a day or two is enough!

I use steam for acrylics and this method for wool
