In my schooling in the 1950's Wilson was always pointed out as one of our greatest presidents. This doesn't appear to really be the case!

It is a view into the glass sphere, but I do also believe that the Treaty of Versailles is at least one of the important causes of the social problems that arose in the period after WW1 and during the Weimar republic. But the problem with war is also that there are never just two guilty parties, but many co-winners such as large corporations and banks. Many of them are more powerful today than ever before.
This is another reason why I shudder at the fertile ground that western countries, including Germany, have been preparing for decades with their resource wars and military exports - and what bitter fruits we will continue to reap in the future. The war industry will demand their return on investment.
