As I was stepping out of my hotel in Chiang Mai that early morning on May 8, 1995, I saw paramedics carrying out a woman to a nearby ambulance. That evening back in my hotel room, I learnt that that one-in-a-million Teresa Teng had passed. That woman on the stretcher in the morning was Teresa Teng. Twenty nine years next month, my heart will still sink. Mahalo nui loa - thank you very much, indeed - Teresa Teng.

Do you know? Fyi, the song "Tian Mi Mi" is adapted from Indonesia folk song from Banten with the original title "dayung sampan (paddle sampan)". When Teresa teng stopped in Indonesia, Teresa teng was interested in covering this song into the Chinese version. Teresa teng also changed some of her songs into Indonesian.

She was undoubtedly the most influential Chinese singer of all time - TIME Magazine and BillBoard voted her as the top 10 most influential singer of all time alongside the Rolling Stones, Bon Marley and John Lennon! Teresa Teng has that ability to invoked deep emotions in her audience in concerts - just by being herself. Just google her concerts in Japan, Taiwan and across Asia. People are there just to hear her talk and see her and then see her sing. Extraordinary. Her voice is simply enthralling and magical. And her personality.. you can imagine.. Everything she did was perfect. Even when she forgot her words, her audience loved her more!!

I want the Chinese young people of today to know who she is and how important her music is to pass onto the next generations to follow.

“Teresa will be heard as long as there are Chinese in this world.”
I think she will be heard even when there are no Chinese. Her voice transcends language.

This is my grandmother’s favorite song. Shes 100 years old and will pass away any day now.

Memories are heartbreaking. I learned to play this song on the piano just for her and she was so excited she started dancing. Will never forget that.

I'm a mainland Chinese, when I was a kid, my mom always listen Teresa's songs in her car. This is the reason why I can sing all Teresa's songs. Teresa is a legend of all the Chinese people.
If she still alive, I will go to her concert definitely.

My mother is a great student of Chinese Culture, while I am of Japanese one.
One day she approached me and showed me this song and the one about the Moon.
I got moved due to how beautiful Teresa's voice was and how the songs were so melodic.
My family and I are very chaotic sometimes, yet we get together when something so beautiful crosses our path of discovery.
May Teresa be remembered for her beautiful voice and songs, she deserve that.

In the 1990th I was living on Taiwan and remember hearing her songs. How important she was to the people of Taiwan I only figured out at her funeral. Actually it was a state funeral. Only the funeral of Chiang Ching-kuo was bigger. I left Taiwan many years ago. Still, from time to time I love listening to hear songs.

Teresa Teng is widely regarded as having one of the most beautiful voices in the history of Chinese music and hearing this song for the first time, the thing that struck me was the togetherness of our Chinese friends. It was almost mesmeric
