Such illusions can occur when light passes through certain mediums, leading to the appearance of multiple light sources. In this case, each pane of the hospital's layered glass contributed to the creation of separate images of the sun.

This event also drew comparisons to the "Sermon of the Seven Suns" from Buddhist eschatology, where it's believed that seven suns will appear in the sky, leading to the world's end.
