So, after 2-weeks of being stuck in the house working from home in the coronavirus lockdown and I'm ready to escape to the country.
This video follows my working day as I spend a shift working from home in my small cabin in the woods.

Luncheon is always a highlight and today is no exception, as I take the opportunity to try a Lithuanian Army ration pack as I take my lunch break.

Learn my assessment of the culinary delights awaiting soldiers in the Lithuanian Army.

Hello Ash,
we used to have extremely hard cookies in our rations.
You broke your teeth on them. They were therefore jokingly called ”tank plates”.
If you smeared shoe polish on them, however, they were excellent as firelighters.
These days the rations are much better.
Best regards
Mathias 😎

I have had a similar version of this in 2017, it was basically the same but with Almonds, Jam and Chicken Soup (Like a Cuppa Soup) instead of a Tea or Coffee.

I couldn't eat the Tiger Tank Armour plates (Rusks) So I decided to make a weird porridge by softening the rusks in hot water, adding the sachet of sugar, Jam and nuts, Crushed as much as possible and put the chocolate in for good measure. Turned out to be a surprisingly filling meal.

Canadian IMPs don't have a heater pack either; odd since the USA had theirs for years. Hexamine tabs have been out for decades made famous by German Esbit. Now Lithuanian rations has both heater types, interesting. BTW BCB FireDragon comes from the UK

Great video. I love some of your comments! US C Rations were all canned and their taste and quality were luck of the draw. Some were awful. MRE's were just coming out in the late 60's and I hear that they are a bit better, though they do require hot water. And a lot of guys now carry a bottle of Tabasco Sauce. Oh yes, C-Ration cases had several can openers, little hand things that were very simple but worked well. I still have one.

So I'm a few months late to the party, but in a pinch you might try the old German army trick for sprucing up your coffee: melt a bit of the chocolate in it. They used to brew coffee in their field kitchens with chocolate.

Good grief! Sometimes I thought we were hard done by in the mob, but the Lithuanian’s have it rough! The first thing that sprung to mind when the stew fell out was dog meat! 🤦🏻‍♂️. We did get a heating means in our ration packs. It was a hexamine stove and hexi blocks. Fitted in nicely behind your mess tins. You never bad to endure that when you were checking in though I bet Ash 😝. Another enjoyable video 👍🏻

hi, another great video.. ! working from home myself, but made more fun by having 2 cats who want a lot of attention...and it's also a welcome break as my daily commute is around 70 miles so I'm able ti get an extra hour in bed :)

we're lucky as my lady is also able to work from home so we're not losing out financially like what a lot of households are in this unprecedented time...

I took delivery of my loake belt today and it's great, should last a lifetime, just not sure when I'll wear it next haha

I wonder if the heating pack is also meant to be used heating water for the instant coffee?
