And that ladies and gentlemen. Is exactly how you impression a key! I am a CRL with ALOA 29 yrs experience Started out making keys to cars in the mid 90’s at car auction. That was 7 yrs of 70 cars a day 5 days a week. Impressioning is a way of life. Lol. I still impression everyday. A key make to whatever someone brings into the shop. I can impression a key to an Master padlock M1 key in under 2 minutes in most cases. Never over 4 minutes You did good job sir. Easy money.

Another thing you can do to make the marks more visible is to blacking the edge with a Sharpie pen and the pins will scratch through the thin ink. I did this for my old Accord with an aluminum key made entirely from scratch.

Dang I paid 300 for a lock smith to do this one time took him less then 30 minutes to do this. I wondered about this. Thx

Its actually crazy how easy this stuff actually is to do. Burglars have it easy these days. They could sneak up on your house at 2 am for example and use similar techniques to fashion a working key then they can easily slip into your house in no time right after you leave for work in the morning and they can lock it right back up on their way out so it takes you a minute to even realise you have been robbed

Would heating the key up with a blowtorch be more efficient? Soften the metal to make more distinctive imprints?

To cheat a little if I had to impression a car key. I’d probably cut them all down to a 1 cut on my code machine. And start from there
