Man, you have shared quite a lot of false information:
- parliament building: it is of course in use every day but only one of the assembly chambers. The parliament was built when Hungary was tripple as big as today and had an Upper House (kind of House of Lords) and a Lower Hourse. Today there is no Upper House so only the Lower House assembly chamber has meetings, the Upper House is indeed for tourist visits. But they are indentical so tourist can have a peek without disturbing a meeting. And of course the building is full of offices of the parliament.
- nazi collaboration and occupation: you are totally wrong. Germans did occupy Hungary in 1944. The Hungarian government had negotiations with the British to withdraw from the war. The British intentionally encoureged the Hungarians knowing very well the Germans will not allow it and will occupy the country and by this will have to relocate troops of theirs to Hungary and alleviate the front situations where the British had interest. Germans dissolved the Hungarian parliament and without elections they installed a nazi government. The deporting of the jews started only after the German SS occupied Hungary until then they were safe. Further, in 1939-1941 a lot of jews took refuge in Hunary from lands occupied by Germans by that time. Hungary has its fair share in committing crimes in the war but do not claim things what are untrue.

I am Hungarian, I really appreciated your video. We escaped tve country in 1956 I was 3 months old also had 2 older sisters but you history lesson was very enlightening, but even as residents of U.S.A. we were raised with Hungarian food and traditions. Thamks to Hungarian import stores And Hungarian bakeries I was able to enjoy those finer things. There is a city in New Jersey called New Brunswick where there were alot of Hungarians, they had Hungarian church and clubs. Thank you for sharing your beautiful video.

Despite the close cooperation with Germany, the Kingdom of Hungary preserved its relative sovereignty, its constitutional parliamentary system, and a certain degree of plurality in public life and the public until March 19, 1944. Hungarian troops did not fight at the front, they were only occupying forces in the operational area. In order to get out of the war, the government sought contact with the Western powers. Serious discriminatory measures were taken against Hungarian Jews, but the entire community was not yet in immediate danger.

The occupation dealt a serious blow to the country's sovereignty and the functioning of its constitutional institutions. After the German entry, many elements of the political institutional system were preserved, but the norms, values, and aspirations represented by the new political factors that came to power changed significantly. At the initiative and support of the occupiers, the new Hungarian regime ordered the deportation of the Jews. It deprived larger and larger groups of society from exercising basic rights. He sent another army to the front and put the country's resources at the service of German war aims one hundred percent. All of this marked an important milestone in the country's Second World War history.

It’s a really great video, and thank you to you to put Budapest on the top of your european cities, even really hard to decide of course.
But of course if you sharing informations with the public, you need to be care more, to that be proper informations. For example of course Nazi Germany conquered Hungary in 19th of march 1944, they installed a protectorat who was responsible to the final solution against the jewish people, they was untouched until the german occupation.
And of course the Hungarian Parliament is a working Parliament because Hungary is a Parlamentary democracy. The building separated for two similar part, and the northern side was kept only for the tourists, and the exactly same southern part is the place of the parliamentary sessions.

Of course not easy to find the proper way to show a foreign place, and mistake is apreciated, , but it was unintentional, that’s obvious. And you could realize, that Hungarians very sensitive to the historical questions… :)
Otherwise great vlog and very kind commentary! Thank you so much!

We were allied to Hilter the same way you ally yourself with a robber when you hand over your valuables at gunpoint. You become very cooperative. An outsider might think you two were best friends... minus the gun. We actually called for help behind Germany's back. The Soviets came and freed us from our German friends... then they became our next good friends when the Red Army of the Soviet Union decided to occupy us for a few decades for our protection! We had lots of allies from all around...

It's actually because of this history, that we are very cautious with foreigners, hence our conservatism. We may not be the richest, fanciest place in Europe, but I'm guessing lots of people like our capital now because it's not a progressive hell hole with forced diversity and inclusion. A fact that is evidenced by the general good condition of our city streets. Many in the EU question our way of life, but the cityscape never lies. We believe in the old saying: If it ain't broke, don't fix it!

Glad you enjoyed yourself! Nice video, with some very insightful commentary!
