The outdoor entrance to the Fountain of Youth is the Waikapala'e Wet Cave on the north shore of Kauai. Analogous to this movie's magical watery passage to the Fountain of Youth, the cave holds a real submerged (depending on water level) passage, through which explorers can travel, in order to reach an isolated chamber known as "The Blue Room". Some Hawaiians tell of an actual pirate treasure found hidden in "The Blue Room" by the original discoverers. The pirate treasure (if it ever existed) is gone, but the cave and chamber remain a natural treasure, still accessible to intrepid explorers.

This scene had me wondering, what made this chamber. And the fountain itself is clearly something designed by intelligent life - I've never seen a ring shaped natural spring.

That being said, the irony is that religious blind God believers affirm the existence of an almighty by pointing out how the human eye's perfect design must be the work of an intelligent super-being, but the same dogmatic mindset in the Spaniards fail to recognize the ingenuity and intelligence that must have gone into the design of something like the Fountain.

It always pissed me off how the goddamn Spanish Inquisition ruined the ending of this movie. It seemed so hamfisted and rushed.
