How to write electron configurations for atoms and monatomic ions using noble gas configuration.

Chemistry on Khan Academy: Did you know that everything is made out of chemicals? Chemistry is the study of matter: its composition, properties, and reactivity. This material roughly covers a first-year high school or college course, and a good understanding of algebra is helpful.

About Khan Academy: Khan Academy offers practice exercises, instructional videos, and a personalized learning dashboard that empower learners to study at their own pace in and outside of the classroom. We tackle math, science, computer programming, history, art history, economics, and more. Our math missions guide learners from kindergarten to calculus using state-of-the-art, adaptive technology that identifies strengths and learning gaps. We've also partnered with institutions like NASA, The Museum of Modern Art, The California Academy of Sciences, and MIT to offer specialized content.

For free. For everyone. Forever. #YouCanLearnAnything

Thank you I understand the noble gas configuration a lot better now but would it be wrong to leave the valence electrons, for the noble gas configuration of Calcium as [Ar]4s^2 or do we always have to change it to [Ar]? If yes do we do this to all group 2 elements, or what elements do we change this for?

Hey, thanks for the video; however, I couldn't understand anything. I thought it was for beginners, I could understand Khans lectures, but I'm off with yours; maybe I should watch the video more times.

I dont get why you are complaining about another voice in explaining the video. Why cant you be thankful that she could help you in any way. If ever you're still complaining her voice then dont watch the video. Easy as that. Also, we dont know that the original VA is sick or is busy doing important things. Please be more understandable HUMAN being
