That tennis ball metaphor always remind me of this Norwegian movie; one of the main characters insist that…if you bounce a tennis ball against the wall enough times - you’ll sooner or later meet the exact time when the electrodes/ions/cells are meeting in perfect time for the ball to simply fly through the wall. (Hard to explain in a comment, must admit).
