This is something he does repeatedly, he gives the appearance that he *almost * gets it, but then tacks back to a standard centrist take on the thing. Its why I find him absolutely infuriating to listen to.

Either he has been paid off and is very cleverly doing this in order to further his media career, or there are psychological reasons for it of some sort.

Have to say one of the things that frustrates me the most about Novara content is how snarky it can be - honestly is one of the things that is holding back the left. In this case James O'Brien is at least on the right track.

Think this is one of the things Gary does well, he's accessible and doesn't talk down to people, or take the piss out of them - he meets people where they're at and doesn't try to make them feel stupid nor sound like he's above everyone.

O’Brien doesn’t come across as a centrist to me. He is actually pliable with leftist pressure and he is a much better spokesperson for things leftists believe than most people I’ve heard in the UK media.
