#4 Don’t move your money around as you try to ‘time the market’ as the market fluctuates.

As a federal employee usually we get a cost of living raise every year. This is a good time to increase TSP saving by another 1%. Same thing for step increases.

This is a very simple explanation, and especially useful for those who invests conservatively but may not under how the markets move on a long term basis.

Mr Hawes I have a question sir. I ma closer to retirement (by ends of 2024 or maybe by end of 2025). I have a large TSP but low cash on hand. I need about $30K for a used truck as my other one is about to die. Would it be smart to take a TSP loan for the money and begin to pay it back while I am still working and then pay it off once I retire or should I try to find another way? Any advice would be great for TSP heavy but cash strapped guy ! Thanks!
