STAYING IN A WINDMILL!!! | Santorini, Greece | Our Big Fat Greek Adventure: Episode 2
Показать описание
We research A LOT when it comes to where we stay when we travel. Our goal is to find a place that will not only accommodate our family but allow us to live as much like a local as we possibly can!
So when we started planning for Greece - the trip that has been on our bucket list for almost 10 years! - you better believe we were going to do everything possible to choose the best place to stay for the most amazing experience.
Our initial goal was to find a cave house in an authentic town with a good view. Cave houses, called “Yposkafa,” are typical on Santorini and are bound to provide a unique living experience while on the island. So imagine our excitement when we stumbled upon the Anemoscope Villa - a cave house in a non-touristy authentic Greek village with a good view, oh and it is a restored windmill too! WHAT?!?!
We all have seen those iconic windmill images on the Greek islands so to live in one was a dream come true! It didn’t take us long to secure the place and start counting down the days until we could call that windmill home for a while.
The place surpassed our expectations! It is BEAUTIFULLY restored and extremely well cared for. The Karamolegkos family owns and preserves the windmill and has included so many unique and handmade touches to create an experience like no other.
So what was it really like to live in a windmill? AMAZING!!! It was dreamy to wake up in the top of a windmill with beautiful 360 views of the island. Then to wind down the twisted stairs to get to the other two levels of the beautiful home felt like we were living in a fairytale.
We hope you will follow “Our Big Fat Greek Adventure” over the next couple of months! There will be a NEW episode every Friday and we will continually post photos almost everyday on our Instagram account.
Our hope is that we inspire you to fill your life with intentional adventure. The biggest compliment you can give us is to SHARE with your friends and follow us on BOTH Facebook and Instagram.
Thank you for your support and love!
XOXO,
Danielle
