Those old commercials were cool! I have a Craftsman 3/8" drive socket wrench I bought when I was a teenager as my first "nice" tool. I still use it today!

I used to work for Sears in the tool department in the 90's. I was able to get a lot of the USA made stuff that I have from back then. Always makes me sad to see Sears go downhill cause I loved there tools when I worked there and used them growing up to today.

I have a very similar box to your Craftsman but a little older, mine is gray with red drawers.

It was a great store. I'll miss them up here in Canada. They sold a lot of good stuff on top of their tools. Their furniture, appliances, and great clothing as well. Very good quality. The appliances were regularly in the top 3 if not # 1 in Consumer Reports.

Like you, my first tools were craftsman, and I really miss walking the isles in the sears that used to be here. They were affordable with a lifetime warranty, Right up my alley. Warranty was as easy as going to the store and exchanging for a new tool. Now I hear warranties can be a nightmare, if you can get one at all. On another note, I found that same Dremel kit at a yard sale for 15 bucks also, but mine is missing the whole stand. I haven’t used it yet, but I know it will come in handy some time in the future. Those commercials brought back memories, pretty cool Tom. Good video.

For a while here I thought US manufacturing was recovering a little, but with the loss of SK, Pratt-Reed, Shop-Vac, etc, I’m not as hopeful. I unfortunately was born in the 90s so I never really got to experience Sears. I would love it today as an adult. Some of my favorite tools are vintage Craftsman.

The funny thing is most people would associate going to Sears and looking at tools with their Dad but my Dad worked afternoons and I always got dragged to the mall with Mom. Those were the days when an 8 year old boy could wander off go look at tools and no one would really worry about the Boogeyman getting always knew where to find me, after she looked at clothing for an hour or two she could just come pick me up in the tool department daydreaming about all the tools I was going to buy someday.

I wish Sears and Craftsman USA would make a Comeback, not so much for me, but for the Kids! Every little Boy Needs a SEARS in his Life! Hey TOM, QUESTION: Do you know how I would Paint my Lid Hinge, so it doesn't Peel when Opening/Closing, on my (Red) Craftsman 3 Drawer? I saw you have the same one. Thanks.

The toolbox is roughly 1978 to 1984 vintage. Waterloo made those for Sears and the date is stamped in the top left floor of the cabinet. It will be a month and a year.

Good post. Sears and the Craftsman tools were always my first stop when buying tools, same as my Dad. Nice tools you purchased. thumbs up & I subscribed. Happy new year 2022

Great video. At the hardware store where I work we have 95% foreign made tools, We just can't get American made except for Channellocks and a few drill bits. It's very aggravating. with Craftsman, SK, Stanley all being sold out it is really sad. But they can't take memories and the old tools away from us.🎄

The Mexican made tools are actually pretty good! Even snap on has made tools here In mexico, There was a time when Proto decided to make a pro line of tools for mexico, by Mexican people! And they were literally the same as Proto, btw, I have a Dremel made in Mexico and it's still working even after almost a 20 years of use, so, not to shabby isn't it?

If on the backplate it has 572.61123 it's a Dremel (OEM code was 572). If not it's not. Yours show it's 572 = Dremel.
