Stop flooding with Bentonite clay? Plug that gopher hole!

If more water is added to the bentonite, it could potentially rehydrate and lose some of its sealing properties. The effectiveness of bentonite in preventing water flow depends on maintaining its hydrated state and the surrounding conditions.

For long-term or more permanent solutions you may want to use other materials like concrete or specialized sealants may be more appropriate, as they can provide a solid, durable barrier. Bentonite is commonly used in applications where a flexible and temporary seal is sufficient, such as in drilling operations or temporary water barriers.

And if you wonder how to get bentonite clay. Cheap kitty litter is usually made from it. (Just have a look at the ingredients first :-)

I went and grabbed some flakes from a hillside and stuck it in a water bottle. LOL
