Star Wars Black Series Clone Wars Target Wave Obi Wan, Anakin, Echo, and Hawk Action Figure Review

I was lucky enough to get a whole set of the new Target exclusive Hasbro Star Wars Black Series Clone Wars set. I had to do a tweak on Arc Trooper Echo, and a couple of fixes on Clone Pilot Hawk, but Obi-Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker may just be my new favorite figures of each character.

I was 7-8 years old when these figures dropped, so yes, prime nostalgia spot, probably just the same kinda thing for my fellow, more tenured collectors, when the retro cars where released.

As a clone trooper fan, this is so frustrating.

The upper limbs from the Caption Rex figure is near perfection. The double-jointed elbows don't pinged the armors & allow great range of motion but they've only re-used it twice: once for Commander Bly & another here, with Hawk. All the other clones (Gree, Fox, Wolf, etc) have very limited range. Even their commander Obi-Wan figure was stiff as hell.

The lower limbs from the newer clones are much better as the swivel knee allows for sitting or kneeling position, although they could've have tweaked the knee armor to be placed at the bottom half of the joint instead of up, making them appear less awkward.

I commend Hasbro for the addition of butterfly joints & lower dumbbell joints in these newer clones but it baffles me how they're always pulling themselves back. You don't see similar problems with their GI Joe's line though.

As a Clone Wars die hard I love these figures also. Echo is a contender for figure of the year IMO.

I missed out on pre-orders for these here in Australia and it upsets me. I wasn't really into Clone Wars when these were announced, so I didn't really think about it.

Now that The Bad Batch has gotten me into the whole web of connected animated Star Wars stuff... I really want Anakin and Obi-Wan with these designs.

Hawk I could take or leave and Echo I'll wait for the Bad Batch version, but The Clone Wars is the most I've liked Anakin and Obi-Wan! And they'd look so good with all my clone troopers!

The only thing that confuses me about this wave is why we got two 501st troops? If they were giving us Anakin and Obi wan, they should have done Echo and a 212th troop to even it out. Maybe Waxer or Boil?

Besides that, I do like these figures. I'm excited to see if they're going to reuse the parts made for Echo on more arc troopers we need like Fives or Fordo from Legends.

In the show, Obi-wan wears clone armor to connect with the clone more, make them feel comfortable.

Glad to know you got the full set with relatively no hassle, Robo! It's been an arduous journey for so many of us. I want you to know that your reviews more than anything (including the actual TV shows) have gotten me the closest to breaking my "Original Trilogy only" rule with Star Wars 6". I broke down and actually got both Obi-Wan and Anakin from this wave and I'm trying my absolute hardest not to go any further. I just don't have anywhere to put 'em!

Target exclusives at least with these were increased in number. I got Hawk and Anakin from Target but others from eBay. I was in West Texas when they dropped. So the extra $40 was money well spent. I like these quite a bit. I was buying 4” back then. My son and I enjoyed the vehicles and staging our own Clone Wars. So now I have an Anakin I like as character. Obi Wan has been cool throughout.
