Grand Rapids police disperse large gathering of vehicles

Grand Rapids police were busy Sunday morning breaking up a car meetup of nearly 300 cars. (April 7, 2025)

People keep saying “trouble makers”. Who are they harming? What trouble are they causing for you at 2am. If your subjected they’re so called trouble at 2am than what are you doing out at that time of night if not to get into trouble?

Good! This insane, obnoxious "hobby" needs to be put cancelled before Summer. People like to sleep with their windows open WITHOUT the sound of squealing tires and revving engines and those stupid high pitched mufflers at 2am.

There is NO common decent good that can come from 300 people gathering in the middle of the night to race cars around like adolescent dopes.

All law enforcement does is harass spectators, i was on my way home after work and got stuck because of a takeover, i pulled into the alpine best buy parking lot, waiting for the intersection to clear out and instead on pulling over the car's drifting in the intersection they pull into the parking lot and threatened to arrest me for "partaking in a riot"

i literally explained to them that i was not attending the event they continued to threaten me with guns drawn, for that i say screw walker police!

After taking my id with NO probable cause they demanded, i pull out and leave during absolute chaos, risking someone hitting my car, they need a new tactic besides drilling the people that will stop when the lights come on.
