He's talking about Diana's weekend at Balmoral in September 1980.
Diana was invited to Balmoral so the queen could evaluate Diana and determine if she would fit in with the family activities and the family business. Balmoral is the family favorite vacation place. Marriage to a royal is also a job in the royal hierarchical organization. The weekend at Balmoral was a JOB INTERVIEW and Diana KNEW IT.
Diana pretended to like Balmoral and countryside activities like fly fishing. Diana pretended to be easygoing and cooperative. Diana LIED to get the queen's approval to marry Charles. About a week after the weekend at Balmoral, the queen and prince Philip started pressuring Charles to propose to Diana. If Diana was honest there would not have been a proposal and marriage.

It was Diana's life plan to marry well, either a royal or a wealthy aristocrat. Diana wanted to be the Princess of Wales and have all the benefits of being married to the future king.

The honeymoon was a disaster. Charles planned a 3 month relaxing honeymoon vacation to get to know each other. They didn't really know each other before the wedding. Over two months was at Balmoral. Diana disliked Balmoral and just about everything about the honeymoon. She refused to participate in the countryside activities. She had unrealistic expectations and was disappointed and angry. Her bulimia was severe and she was so angry that she had a physically destructive outburst. Diana was not the easygoing and cooperative person she pretended to be before the wedding. The smell of vomit is not an afridesiac.
