My sister makes it by purchasing about 3 or 4 cardboard cans of Pillsbury grands biscuits from the refrigerated section of the store, cuts each biscuit into four pieces and then dips then in butter and then the sugar/cinnamon. She only has to make the caramel sauce, mix the sugar and cinnamon and layers it all with the pecans. She bakes them right away and they rise really nice and are really good.

I make it every year for Christmas breakfast along with a savory breakfast casserole. Then we pick at it throughout the morning if it isn't devoured during breakfast. I have made it completely homemade, but I usually buy frozen bread rolls, like Rhodes rolls (they have a recipe on their website for monkey bread, along with a ton of other recipes using their rolls). A super easy version is to just use canned biscuits and cut them up. I have also seen recipes using butterscotch pudding mix in the sauce.

This looks and sounds amazing! I love anything with Caramel and pecan (Ben and Jerrys used to do an amazing icecream /Vermonster), which of course they discontinued! I love Lardy cake and Chelsea buns (drooling:):), so this would be a quick favourite.Thanks for sharing, hope your week`s off to a good start.xx

Great video. First I was drawn to the picture, then saw it was from Taste of Home (which is always good), but when I saw it was from Tami and Kevin, I immediately clicked on it. Watching the process was so satisfying though I'd never go to that much trouble myself. My mother used to make monkey bread and we always had it as a dessert,

These look delicious. A couple of years ago I started making my cinnamon rolls and monkey bread using the frozen loaves of bread. Seems I’m able to get it more often. 😂. We’ve always had monkey bread for holiday breakfasts and brunches. Growing up my mom made it with cut up canned biscuits (the girls make them often too). Takes no time at all. If you really like the gooey parts the best you can put the balls in a muffin pan so more crispy caramel edges

What a fun recipe! I’ve never seen Monkey bread made from scratch before! We make it every Christmas morning but use the Pillsbury southern style grand biscuits, and double the Carmel goop so it will pour out like Kevin was saying….it’s delicious!! 😋 Thanks for sharing and taking the time to make!! Looks super yummy!! 😊

I'm 53 and we grew up on monkey bread and made it from canned biscuits. I don't recall when we ate it. All day probably lol

That looks absolutely delicious. Kevin and you always make such yummy treats on the channel. I had to put a bib on to soak up the drool from my mouth! I LOVE Monkey Bread! My sister makes it occasionally and it's one of those things where I will keep picking at it. The center is the best part because it's the best coated with glaze. Yum, yum, yum!! Great job, Kevin! There is a breakfast place by my work that will give healthcare workers the option of free monkey bread with a Bourbon sauce to dip it or a free Mimosa. I always choose the Monkey Bread because it's to die for.

I make monkey bread but we have always called them sticky buns. My recipe is a little different. The recipe I have calls for frozen dough balls and the sauce is a little different, too. I make them on Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter. We have them for breakfast.

Yumm this looks amazing! I had one friend when I was growing up whose mom would always make us the frozen monkey bread for breakfast, so for me it's breakfast! But I can definitely see how it could be a dessert too.

Happy you uploaded a monkey bread recipe! My daughter(9) is a huge caramel/cinnamon sugar fan, and I was just explaining to her what monkey bread is! Going to get the ingredients to try it out today; thank you for the fun recipe! Also, I wonder for the holidays, would be using candied pecans be too sweet for this recipe? I'm a sucker for a yummy glazed pecan.

Sorry for the late response! We had monkey bread for dessert every year at our annual family cookout. It was a tradition and you had to make sure you ran when it was announced because it was gone in a flash. But ours was super easy to make. Pillsbury dough and brown sugar cinnamon glaze.
