The main purpose of AC has always been as testbed for PU tech. An easy access/arcade gamestyle was a nice side effect. As AC is/will soon be in a state that it performs its main purpose sufficiently well, CIG is pulling personel away. I sort of get it.

I think the Sabre Raven Gold Standard Pass feels like a good project for 'new-ish' members on the ship team to get a rep in on a gold standard loop. somewhat similar to how they explained the coffee vendor project. They also mentioned the size changes of the ship team changing, and this would signal that it's grown enough for them to spend time on non-critical ships. Overall a positive thing.

The AC change makes me sad. A lot of last year was spent hyping up that we have an AC team and they're doing good things. DJ has always been so openly enthusiastic about it too.

I never play AC.. Im always jumping into the PU.. Ive always wondered what the point of AC was beyond just quickplay sort of matches and practicing for the PU.. So long as AC inherits game/ship/system updates from the main game (being the PU) why is it a big deal that there are less people working on it? Don't we want the focus of resources to be on getting Star Citizen's PU completed asap?? I say screw Arena Commander by comparison to the PU.. Good on them for moving people where it matters.

You skipped over engineering bringing streaming (Object Container Streaming?) to Arena Commander allowing PU locations to be more easily ported to AC. This is a big deal. It's going to expand Arena Commander quite significantly, streaming allows much bigger locations because every entity doesn't have to be loaded into RAM if you're aren't in the area, and it also cuts down on the work required as work done on the PU can more easily work 'out of the box' for AC. They are unifying the RAM loading for PU and AC.

There is no possible way that I could care less about Arena Commander than I currently do. This is pure upside, at least to me. Might check out AC when it's actually done tho

Hello, the first photo of the Bar Citizen is from Spain, not Ireland. Best regards.

AC could be integrated into the PU with some sorta VR hub simulation rooms/centers. It'd be cool and make a lot of sense, especially in the future.

The Aegis Sabre 100% has not had a Gold Pass... it was nerfed to death back in the 3.8 era.. the Sabre objectively sucks. It needs its 3rd shield to return and for a handling buff... literally every other medium fighter is better than Sabre in nearly every metric.

Does Tony Z still work at CIG? What's he been doing the past year or two?

So much stuff I still want to see in Arena Commander so I am sad to see resources pulled to the PU. I would love to chill on public XGR game lobbies, spectating and hunting race times. Maybe add a firing range to test weapons offline. Private lobbies to do training with your org for various activites. Would personally love a classic 5v5 search and destroy gamemode, I think it would be a great way to better test medical gameplay and get time to kill and such right, maybe even with the downed state.

3.23 might be a ways out, but could be quite good. Maybe some boids/creatures, freight elevators and multiple SQ42 features showcased at CitCon? Before then it's all about getting replication layer to a stable and relatively bug-free state.

SC was sold on the idea of a massive online multiplayer space world. AC is at best a mini game. Even if it becomes great, its going to be irrelevant for most people and have nothing to do with why they got SC in the first place.

The AC team move is so perfectly emblematic of CIG and why it's so hard to have faith in them; as soon as something starts to show progress and promise they pull resources away from it to move onto the next thing. It's like they categorically just can't tell the difference between something improving and something being "done, " so they constantly abandon stuff just as it's getting good because as soon as the box is ticked they say "good enough" and bail on it, leaving a disappointing shell. This is exactly why structural salvage was so upsetting, anyone who's been around knows they're not going to iterate on it or improve it, they dropped something unfinished and consider it "done" and will not be back to it.

If they want AC to be busy, just add AI bots so people can take their large combat ships out and enjoy the spectacle without having to herd cats to get turret seats filled. If not, that's fine, moving more people over to the PU to help out there is also good too.

It's because of user engagement, which AC just doesn't have much of compared to the PU. i.e. the majority of their customers don't spend their time in AC, so the AC guys get screwed on team focus within the company.

Literally no pleasing SM; one day he's harping on about "The PU HAS to be treated like a LIVE SERVICE who cares about SQ42" before Citcon, and now that he likes AC gun rush and he plays it more than the PU, he wants a full team to keep working on AC. smh lmao... you're too much Mike.

Idk if you already saw, but in the latest SQ42 update it mentions them working on using the new mini-map features to create landing radar so that we see what we're landing on without using f4!!! At last!! 🥳🥳🥳🥳
Probably the most exciting announcement for me tbh 😅

NPC AI is going to need to a lot more focus. The PU immersion is deeply dependent on their behavior!
