And I know I mentioned this once before, but I never actually realized this was an issue that the fandom actually has brought up before and at length. So I really quickly wanted to discuss the comments that some made about "HB being about the boys, and HH being about the girls"

Nah, you're totally right about that. Millie always gets put aside, there's no episode ACTUALLY about her. The episode where her family was introduced? It was more of an introduction for Striker. It always kind of end up being an episode about Moxie. Love your art tho

Not every female character needs to be super interesting - but the main characters sure as hell need to be!

Its the fact that Millie quite literally gets written out of her episodes as well. The one where her family is introduced? She gets conviniently injured by a bear trap, so she can't go after Striker again. The one that finally actually addresses the fact that Moxxie always takes over? Yeah, well, now it's suddenly an episode about Barb and Blitz in the last second instead. The one episode she complains about her ex, yeah well it's Moxxies ex too, and also here's some family trauma for Moxxie.

I'm convinced that the writers of both HB and HH just don't know what to do with a character that has a well-adjusted life. I mean, think about it. Literally everyone that gets focused on either has family issues, trauma, insecurities, or all three. What does Millie have? A husband she loves, a family she loves and that loves her, and a job she loves. Her biggest struggle is that she gets overshadowed, which is a problem the show itself creates for her.

Also, the male characters in Hazbin are fleshed out. Not all, but most. Angel has an established background & the arc with Valentino, Alastors intrigue is his deal and his involvement in the hotel, Lucifers backstory… well, its mainly the normal biblical story but edited- still a backstory, Sir Pentious has his redemption arc going on, Vox and Valentino have stories and will come back as Season 2 villains, Husk has his backstory as overlord, gambling addict and deal with Alastor as well as his newly established friend/partnership with Angel.
All the while the lead women characters feel just as established as the male side characters, so the argument of HH being ‘female driven’ and HB being ‘male driven’ makes no sense to me if I’m honest.

What’s frustrating is that we learned about the Goetia family almost instantly as side characters but have gotten through about a season and a half without anything on Millie

Understandable. Pretty much everyone in Hazbin (for the most part) has a chance to shine. But we definitely need more Millie focused episodes. Like c’mon. Yes it’s great that we’re exploring more of Blitzø’s backstory and Moxxie’s backstory. But, c’mon. Give Millie more love

Also. I wholeheartedly think that Vivziepop said “Hazbin girl centered show, Helluva boy centered show” just to get people to stop asking her to improve her character development of Millie. I don’t think she actually intended that to be the case until she was under attack on Twitter.
“Vivziepop doesn’t write women well” shouldn’t be an excuse, nor should it mean that Vivziepop shouldn’t work on that to make more interesting female characters.

youre spitting fax, i like the show but DAMN does millie suffer from being so one dimensional and unfocused on... 😭 she's just the strong girl who kills people and kisses her husband, she genuinely has no other traits it seems like

Unfortunately, judging by the credits, there are only three writers for _Helluva_ right now: Brandon Rogers (aka Blitzo’s VA), who actually hasn’t directly written for Season 2 at all so far aside from story credits; Adam Neylan, a sometimes-collaborator for Brandon who only started writing for the show with Season 2; and Viv herself, who co-wrote all of Season 1 with Brandon except “Ozzie’s” (that one she wrote solo).

So you can see how it’s very easy to place blame on Viv and/or Adam directly for the season’s inconsistent quality.

I think her episode is yet to come it might be wishful thinking but I think her episodes turning into Moxie episodes is all part of it and at some point there's going to be an episode where she finally blows up about it

I’m pretty sure that Blitz and Moxxie are more focused on because they were originally supposed to be minor antagonists in Hazbin Hotel before it was picked up by A24 and when Helluva Boss became a spin off series Millie and Loona were added to IMP, so maybe lots of Blitz and Moxxie’s characters were already developed and so they may feel it’s easier to work with them (but Millie absolutely deserves an episode, it doesn’t need to be angsty or anything, we just need an episode where she’s in the spotlight for once…)

Honestly I think it comes down to the fact she’s the most stable person in the core cast. She isn’t carrying any crazy trauma baggage, her family is warm and caring, she’s happy in her marriage, and she enjoys her job. She’s the most grounded and normal person in IMP.

So there just isn’t much to explore with the kind of grim character studies that Helluva Boss thrives on. She’s mostly there to be a foil, I think.

Vivzie said Hazbin was the female centric show just to shut people up about Millie and Loona’s sidelining, and then tried to claim that’s not what she meant when Hazbin came out and the female characters were still sidelined. She just doesn’t wanna write women.
