Показать описание
This video starts by reviewing the basic structure of plant stems and roots, including micrographs of both. It then discusses the phloem and its loading via the apoplast and symplast routes. This is followed by the adaptations of the phloem, and how aphids are used to quantify phloem rate. Next it covers the structure of the xylem and how water moves via the transpiration stream. After this, the basics of leaf structure, transpiration and factors of transpiration are introduced, along with the measurement of transpiration rate via a photometer. Finally, the video covers water conservation.

On the phloem adaptations part. Instead of the sieve tube cells having a Lot of mitochondrias and folded membrane, Don’t do companion cells actually have this characteristics? In my IB book it says that the companion cells are the ones with mitochondria because of active transport happening in these cells
