This was another fun adventure with Daniel and Matt. It’s so cool to think that what is now woods used to be an old race track.

That homeless camp was pretty neat also. That is actually a pre-Sidestep Adventures find of mine. It’s been there that long. It was disused even the last time I was out there. So that potted meat was pretty old.

The stream at the end of the video was a great way to end the adventure. A nice and peaceful time spent by good friends. It was a good day.

Oh and PS, the fishing pole - it was Daniel’s brought from his truck as we were aware of some fishing holes in those woods. Someone wrong assumed we found it.

So incredibly sad that people are dumping trash in those woods. Beautiful area. Hope you are able to reach out to government to get that area cleaned up without destroying the site

William France built a track in the late 1950s at the end of Blackmon road There in Columbus. It was one of the first Nascar race tracks. Dirt not asphalt. The banked curve still there.

I really enjoy your videos. I no longer live in West Ga/East Al area so it brings back memories. Miss the red clay and the pine woods of the area. Much different from swampy Florida.

You guys are tripping me out with your finds and smelling them especially the potted meat and liquor lol 😂

The track brought back memories of going to races (dirt track) in the 60's. Nothing like it!

Dennis Weaver, the actor, built a cool solar home outside Taos NM with stacked tires filled with earth, Adobe, solar power panels etc. The old tires work well for alternative building material and aren't visible in the walls.

I miss being able to walk around the woods in the States. It's funny that almost all woods in the south I have been in look exactly like this, no matter what state, trash and everything. I can almost smell what it smells like too!

I grew up in south Columbus and I had NO IDEA that there was an old racetrack off Victory Dr.

Your back!!!! It s a sad situation when people have to live that way. Those tires would make an awesome shelter. People make houses out of those. Make sure to pack dirt on the inside to make them stable. What a lovely place by that creek.

We have an old Korea/ WW2 air field here near Darien called Harris Neck.  You can still see the airfield and the runways. Even after 60+ years or so.  It was used as a mail route, training site and then poof.  It is now an Nature Preserve.  In the early days, around the 1700 to 1800's it was a plantation, and the cemetery is still taken care of and the only remaining piece of the home site is the fountain.I this off Hamilton Rd, or is it Idle Hour? Can you imagine trying to detect where the grandstand was an hit all that asphalt? There are people who have built autos from less. Creek looks like a nice place to just sit and enjoy the moving water next summer.  Just a peaceful water fall.

Hi Robert, you should have taken that old TV home as I bet you could get the nature channel on it if you cleaned the screen lol. A very cool find of that Nascar track just hidden there in the undergrowth, thank you for taking us along. x

This track never got the support of big names so it never reached that " NASCAR " popularity in pre-nascar days. It ended its life as a midget car track. One notable local name is Sam McQuagg. He raced on this track before racing in nascar.

I googled Columbus race tracks and came to a site that was titled georgiaracinghistory.com. They did have an aerial view of Columbus Super Speedway. I do not know if it is the same one. The page was dated 8/20/10. The aerial view was of the speedway "today". Looked like this could be the same one, though it was not an oval.
