Nice to know I can replace the roller brush motor, but how do I know it is the motor if it spins by hand? Maybe it's the relay. This video was for troubleshooting, so why didn't it include testing the motor and or the relay or other components on the board?

I'm really hoping its just the belt track was off - we just got this hoover vacuum in December :( . I went to turn it on the other day and the bottom started to smell like it was burning.. removed all hair .. and it still did it after. I know for a fact nothing crazy has gotten stuck in this vacuum so im hoping im able to fix it. Screwdriver time it is.

What if the roller spins except when on carpet, even at the highest carpet setting? Perhaps the belt is a little stretched out?

My issue ended up being much simpler. There was a reset button on the back of the vacuum.

My motor stopped spinning when encountering "difficult" surfaces, like a long haired carpet. I bought a new entire end piece, so I had brand new bearings, motor, belt... and still the problem persisted. It's almost as if not enough power is going to the motor that spins the brush, but otherwise the vacuum cleaner works just fine and seems to have enough power. Anyone know how it could be fixed?

Instead of doing all this, unplug it, wait a few minutes, plug it back in, recline to the floor, push power button, then push roller button for 5 seconds. At least try that before you start tearing it apart or trash it
