Step 1 to curating your dream wardrobe

Step 1 to curate your dream wardrobe 👏🏻
Are you ready? This is the start of going through step by step how I took myself from a fast fashion addicted shopaholic to curating my dream luxury wardrobe.
Step 1 is arguably the most important step of all. It’s the one that will take the most time and energy in one hit. But there is also instant gratification involved.
I’m taking about the big purge, or clear out!
First time I properly purged my wardrobe, I got rid of 75% of my clothes. It might sound like a lot, but it left me with the perfect base for my new wardrobe. The core of my personal style.
This is how you do it;
1. Collect all your clothes on your bed.
(skip shoes, accessories, bags, underwear, socks and specialty wear for now). But get EVERYTHING else, even stuff in wash baskets, basements and out of season items.
2. Pick one piece you truly love and want to keep.
Hang, fold this item on the right hand side of your bed.
3. Pick one item you are happy to let go of.
Pop that item on the left hand side of your bed.
4. Alternate one to keep and one to go until you cannot anymore.
Normally you will hit a point where everything left is either a completely keep or go.
You will have to keep some things you don’t love, like work wear you need, specialty items that are useful but you don’t love or pieces you are keeping for nostalgic reasons.
5. Everything on your right hand side is now the base of your new wardrobe. Send anything that needs it to the dry cleaner or tailor and hang, fold these items back neatly in your wardrobe.
6. The items on the left hand side should be divided into 3 piles for charity, selling and giving to friends and family.
The rule is that anyhting going to charity or friends and family has to leave the house in 24h or you might risk dipping back into it.
This is truly the best way to not only make space for the wardrobe you are going to build, but to also get rid of anything “meh” that’s hiding the things you truly love.
My homework for you this week is to do your own clear out. And then come back here again next week for step 2.
Are you in? 🤔
