I can’t imagine coming off winning a championship and getting DNP twice on the world stage 😢 I just feel like JT is having the worst summer after winning a championship

Tatum should have stayed home and worked on his game and rested.

Ya'll just bobble heads at this point. This dude just played how many games, how many minutes in winning a chip? I am pretty sure, he is ok, letting more fresh legs get the work. If he smart, he taking notes and can capitalize on knowledge being near players.

The media is 100% blowing it out of proportion. Nobody talking about Embiid being benched, Haliburton getting benched a few games, Jrue Holiday didn't play a game. Derrick White didn't play a game.

Coach K was not the assistant coach…he was the national coach for years 😂

c'mon Wade! You know how you would react.

I think it's just an unfortunate situation, the position he plays amongst other things. I think Kerr doesn't want to force him into the game just because. He plays the same position as LeBron and KD. He's not getting more minutes than them, and people forget that the games are shorter in the Olympics, so the rotation works differently. One could argue for Haliburton as well. He's coming off a season where he lead the Pacers to the ECF, and he's getting pretty much no minutes as well. But would you pick him over Steph or Jrue Holiday? Probably not. So I think that's just the way the cookie crumbles with Tatum as well.

Tatum is also a slightly different situation because he's always been a #1 guy, he's never really played as a role player. Even from this past season, yes Brown took over, but it's only because Tatum was a little off his game. Tatum never really willingly gave JB the keys to lead the team to the Championship when he was off, Brown just kept doing his own thing. On Team USA, you can only have so many of those #1 guys on one team for it to work. Bron, Steph, and KD are those guys. Which means at least one of them HAS to be on the court at all times. And two of them also play Tatum's positions. The rest of team USA has all been in positions at some point before this Olympics where they've willingly accepted taking the backseat for a period of time.

Booker and Bam came from the Kentucky "super team" era, where they weren't always the number 1 option offensively for their team, so they know what it means and how to play their role. Getting stops defensively, rebounding, being smart and picking your spots when they do take shots, just whatever the team needs. Booker also plays with KD on the Suns, so he arguably has just as much chemistry with KD (one of THE three guys) as Steph from their time playing on the Warriors with Steve Kerr. Anthony Davis plays with LeBron (another one of THE three), so he arguably has the most chemistry with him out of anybody on the entire roster. Embiid also plays the 5 so that doesn't affect Tatum really, but there were so many games this past season where Embiid let Tyrese Maxey do his thing offensively and all Embiid wanted to do was just rebound, play defense, and dish out assists. Jrue Holiday, the perfect role player, really needs no explanation. Derrick White, a defensive player that every team needs, and someone who doesn't need the ball in his hands to affect the game. Ant Edwards is interesting because he could EASILY be in Tatum's position where he doesn't get any minutes, he's the youngest on the team. But Ant has great chemistry with KD, Kerr sees that. And we've seen Ant willingly take the backseat for the Wolves a few times. When ANT is off sometimes, he doesn't force it, he lets KAT do his thing and he just tries to lock up on defense. He's a great team player, you can tell by how the team raves about him, you don't really see that with Tatum.

In all honesty, I just don't think Tatum is a great fit for this particular team, and Kerr realized it too late. But next Olympics he more than likely will be starting for sure. No LeBron, and possibly no KD, so that will clear up all the space for him if he still wants to do it. There's a good chance that Paolo Banchero gets promoted up to the first team by that point in time as well too, two Duke guys same position. So that may help Tatum. All that being said, at least Tatum will be somewhat fresh for this upcoming season. Maybe this will change his perspective on being a team player.

They will have their own time to play, Lebron might not be on the next olympics or even KD, Curry, Imbid or Bam.

Couldn't even find five minutes for JT?

People forget, until the 2008 "Redeem Team" we used to have a college senior on the team who didn't play much. The 2004 team had Shane Battier. The Dream Team had 2 players who barely played, Laitner and Stockton (injury). If they had those 2 extra healthy NBA guys, it would've just meant even less minutes for Magic and Bird.

As a Celtics fan, I am glad that Tatum is NOT playing. Also glad Brown didnt make the USA team. Who would want their 300 mill players getting injured? They just came off a championship game. Brown snub and Tatum bench will motivate the Celtics to another championship.

Three of the best coaches in NBA had to craft a plan to Win, that plan de-emphasized JT. The level of his play specifically in this Olympics made him an unreliable choice in a no tomorrow situation. JE previously played poorly but his size was not replicable and needed for Jokic. Steph previously played poorly but his shooting was immediately present and it's Steph. JT's skill set's are replicable on this team particularly when he's not sharp.

Jayson Tatum is trash - not a good fit for team USA at all. Doesn’t have the confidence in shooting, just doesn’t play with intensity on the court. And looking like he plays 60-70% out there all the time. You should be giving 110% effort. He doesn’t do that. This guy has a lot of ego.

If I was Steve Kerr I would bench this guy too. There are wayyyy better guys in his position.

Thank you D wade. Tatum out here doing ISO’s with all these other guys that are better, more efficient scorers with more heart. Get outta here!

Tatum is 26, only 2024 All-NBA 1st Team player, 3 straight 1st Team All-NBAs. Steve Kerr should be fired.

Kerr's making bad decisions. AD and JT are better defenders and both can score.

Tatum is coming off an extended season, then you ask him to play for another month during the offseason, then a month later back to the regular season, that’s a lot. I don’t see anything wrong with it, he got a gold in the process. I don’t think Steve Kerr went in expecting Lebron, Steph, and KD to be absolutely dominant. Yet they were and Kerr has to ride the hot hand.

That’s why the game was so close why would Kerr bench him
