What do you think, are these light strips synced with your TV beautiful enough for $200+?

*I like the old style Echo Dot because it's small also **Newest.Technology**, gives out decent sound and doesn't take up a lot of shelf space if you want to put it on beam in the workshop or shed.*

I think this would be worth it if the light strip had its own sync software built in and connected to your TV via USB or something but not many people have Macs or PCs connected to their TVs so requiring an already very expensive Sync Box on top of a very expensive light strip makes it a no for me

I've mounted the old strips many times, so seeing an improved installation is great. It didn't bend or stick easily

I have been waiting for something like this from Philips for such a long time. I have spent a ridiculous about of money on Hue lights but I do thoroughly enjoy them. Although this light strip will be yet another absurd amount of money I will def be getting it. I tried using seven play bars around the back of my 75 inch tv along with the sync box, and although it works okay it is very difficult to try and position the seven play bars around the tv when creating an entertainment area in the Hue app. I really hoped they would add something to the Hue app to where it shows a front or rear view of a TV so you can position the play bars more accurately, but I guess the gradient light strip is their solution. Either way I love Philips products although yes they are insanely expensive. But if they work well and they actually last a long time then I am okay paying good money for things.

Nice demo but to get this effect using the Philips Gradient Lightstrip can work out to be costly when you add up the price of the lightstrip, the hue bridge & the hue sync box the whole setup will cost you around £500+. The cheaper option is to just buy a Philips Hue Ambilight TV. I have the 65PUS8204 which will cost you arond £500 with three sided ambilights, Dolby Vison/atmos is built in. Any thing left in your budget can be put to a few extra Hue lamps to go in the corners of the room for an even extra added effect but you will need the hue brdge for any extra bulbs to work with the TV.

Just hooked the 75 set up on my 85 inch tv... I have the down lights and play bars too... it’s ridiculously expensive but ridiculously awesome when you get them all going

You could always put those bars behind the TV and apply a film or mesh fabric to them to dim them that way.

Stumbled upon this vid whilst searching for the gradient strip. What I did for my 65 inch; placed the gradient strip as usual. For the dark bottom part I used 3 play bars (left mid right). I used the V-brackets that came with the bars to stick them to the back of the TV. They face straight to the wall behind. The intensity difference was really annoying just like in this video. I "solved" this by setting the strip and bars on a static color at 100% brightness. Next I adjusted the hight of the bars (bit by bit about 10 centimeters total) upwards until intensity looked the same. It looks like a 360 gradient strip now. Really happy with this set-up. Maybe your screen is too close to the wall for this to work though... but who knows it might work for you as well.

these look great! I hope it's not too distracting though. I can't wait for the next iteration that will have 4K, 120Hz passthrough. Hopefully some HDMI 2.1 on the next model.

The biggest thing for me is this is the most seamless solution, less janky, longer lasting, probably cheaper in the long run, part of an ecosystem like Sonos, and has dolby vision, 4k 60fps passthrough with the sync box and can be extended to the whole house integrated into a seamless smart ecosystem.

Finally put together my setup for my daughter's Graduation gift, because she likes to play Fortnite 🤣 and Animal Crossing. Movies and gaming look so amazing now! You're right, it isn't cheap but It's so worth it.

I just use all play bars (8 of them) so it blends better. 2 behind tv (top and bottom), 2 behind each tower speakers. So the tower speakers I have top one face the wall and one below it face away from the tv. Then last 2 bars behind the sofa. Hue app you can set if the light is tv height, on the floor, or ceiling. Accurately adjusting this really helps.

Gradient light strip looks great but the major downside is still the sync box which does not work with today's smart tvs inbuilt apps. Not so smart philips 🧐. Who would want to buy additional firestick, chromecast, apple tv separately when all is inbuilt in the tv these days?

Good thing about it is it is being recognized as one device, hue sync box can take up to 10 I heard. I am currently at 8 and still considering going two more play bars which ends up at 10, with that I won't be able to add a strip that wanted to place under my couch. I might just get this new strip and get rid of all play bars from behind a TV. Also, in my opinion, best effect is when you add hue signe on both sides, these are just mind blowing. Great video by the way

Sync box = €250, Lightstrip = €200, 2 play lights = €130.

€580 is an astronomical price for just that experience which when mounted does not cover the entire TV and is not even individually addressed!.I have lots of hue bulbs inside and outside but will never purchase again since learning about WLED and other example projects.

I have 2 hyperion setups and these are just a fraction of that price while doing more.

Thanks for the vid though.
