This story is incredibly heartbreaking. It’s tough to imagine the kind of pain Tatum must be feeling being excluded from her own father's funeral, especially after all their attempts at reconciliation. Family dynamics can be so complicated, and it’s sad to see how unresolved issues can persist even till the end. I hope Tatum finds peace and healing despite this tragedy.

Ryan O'Neal was garbage. The way he treated his daughter, and Redman, and Farrah was disgraceful. No wonder his two children were addicts for so many years. It looks like his son Patrick is a chip off the old block in the garbage department. I hope Tatum and Redman have gotten their lives in order. I'm sure it's a long and painful journey. Good luck to them both and RIP sweet Farrah.

I read Tatum’s books and she so resonated with me. My heart breaks for Tatum. The abuse her and Griffin suffered at the hands of Ryan is horrific.

Tatum if you are reading this look ONLY forward, please do not look back and you don’t need any mothers or fathers validation that you are a great human being. Unfortunately like millions of us LIFES LIKE A BOX OF CHOCOLATES YOU NEVER KNOW WHAT YOURE GONNA GET. You are not defined by your parents you are defined by your actions! Let go of anyone bad in your life and add valuable people in it, people who will adore and cherish you. They do exist!

Tatum is a force of nature! Her performance in Paper Moon is incredible. Then she starred in The Bad News Bears and you could see her humor and maturity. Little Foxes was another chance for her to shine. She always had control over her over her on screen presence and she’d equalize her tone depending on how strong or weak her co-stars were in the scene. She’s a great team player in that sense. My favorite character she played is Maggie Gavin on Rescue Me! I wished they would’ve given her a spinoff series!

Because he wasn't a decent person till the end. Jealousy of your own child is the lowest of a person you can be

Who is jealous of their children?! That’s just warped.

I was always told he was very jealous because she won the oscar and shortly after that I remember my mother saying that he was really pissed off so he obviously held a grudge all those years and that's the sign of a real s***head
to treat your daughter like that I always thought she's beautiful when she got older and I loved her in the movie

I have the same kind of family or come from the same kind of family. It's very lonely, disheartening, depressing, frustrating and painful. I am sorry to hear about their pain, but on the other hand, I am glad to know I am not the only one with such an impossibly strange and forever hurtful family.

Ryan was a TERRIBLE husband and a TERRIBLE father. As to Tatum not being included at his funeral, it was only because Patrick knew that Ryan ADORED Tatum, despite their difficulties getting along. Patrick will never get over that issue. The issue began with Ryan though. He was a child, a jealous, envious and shallow person. At one point, Tatum bumped into her father, after Farrah Fawcett's funeral and Ryan saw her and didn't recognize her. At that point, he HIT on his own daughter. He admitted it in an interview, which I saw.

"I had just put the casket in the hearse and was watching it drive away when a beautiful blond woman comes up and embraces me, " O'Neal said. "I said to her, 'You have a drink on you? You have a car?' She said, 'Daddy, it's me, Tatum!'" "I was just trying to be funny with a strange Swedish woman, and it's my daughter, " he said. "It's so sick."

Can you imagine? Poor Tatum O'Neil, she deserved a better father than she got.

I loved Tatum O'Neal... She's been an amazing actress since she was a child. I truly feel for her here. Most people can identify with fractures within the family. Nobody can hurt you like family can. I hope she continues to do well & rise above the dysfunction

A parent’s snub after death is the ultimate form of punishment and betrayal. Whether it’s leaving a child out of a will just before they die, or refusing to allow their child to attend their funeral. These kinds of actions just go to show how narcissistic and cruel they really are.

Didn’t Tatum say that he actually tried to come on to her at Farrah’s funeral? I think I saw that in an interview she did shortly after.
She had to tell him, “I’m your daughter!” because he didn’t recognize her!

I feel Tatum pain. I myself come from an extremely dysfunctional family. I saw my mom deteriorate with her health and her mind because of the dysfunctional background it came from. Tatum you’re not the only one. My prayers and love go with you. You did your best
