Why film photography is the best

I’ve really been enjoying shooting film and because of film I’ve grown to appreciate artsy photography more. Now all I want to do is buy weird and silly cameras that get me cool looks rather than the “best” cameras out there

Shooting film is like taking the photography exam. If you're not throwing away half of your shots it is a testament that you know what you are doing. With digital you are not really forced to try to be good, you can just take 30 shots of the same thing and one of them will come out nice.

That is one aspect of it, but if we are talking creativity there are many ways you can be creative, endless really, and using film is just one of them. You can be creative with your composition, you can try to capture a unique moment, you can be creative with the look. One thing that I am doing is using old lenses on digital cameras. I feel like it brings out the best of the old grannies and it is fun to discover new looks.

The most important thing in the end is to have fun

i use to edit my photos to look like film until one day i got tired of spending hours with vsco filters in lightroom and just started to shoot film all the time for everything instead of digital

I found film works for me exactly because on digital I have lots of photos that I do not do anything with as I find the post-processing boring and tiering (for now).

The film inspires you to dedicate more time and thought on each shot, as if each photo is a new little project and you almost have to do the best you can. The photos always look great and you don't feel like you are wasting time if you want to edit them. Not mentioning that handling SLRs of the past is such a treat and the point-and-shoots of the past are such a unique little machines!

I feel like film only contributed to my photography positively in every way.

The problem is that film and development costs too much. Digital camera allows you to shoot 100 photos, process them, and ind the ones you really want to develop/print. If someone could combine the editing capability of digital with the analog nature of film, it would be a winner.

I'm also enjoying exploring 'worse' cameras. Anything as bare-bones as possible while still maintaining some capability

I got a disability on my hands, but i would like to use a film camera. I just can´t hold it up and operate it. I need a screen to see what and how i´m capturing ... so I edit them to look like film. I give myself Max of 30 shots on a given day.

Men I can bet that you don't have money for another vicious. That's the power of the film photography.

I remember David Bowie saying in an interview that he thought people who prefered LP discs were crazy. What really matters is the content. IMO if you wanna limit yourself to an objectively inferior medium, then it's not about the content (music in this case). And I 100% stand by that. Prefering analog is not about the photography, it's about the experience, and ONLY about the experience. If the experience is all that photography is to you, fine. I rather care about the art, the craft, the results, and materially the most important: the bottom line, because it's what I do for a living.
So yeah. I would NEVER recomend film to anyone that wants to "improve as a photographer", if were talking about someone who plans on making money from it. It's frankly so stupid to introduce such costs. A business is a business.

Blah blah blah. Everyone, continue shooting with what you love to shoot with, whether it's film, digital or both. If you truly love photography there's a space in your heart for either one!
