Cool video. I think a lot of the recent popularity in film is the same as the recent popularity in vinyl. Younger generation who only know digital want something physical to hold on to rather a digital file on a phone or computer. Ive been shooting professionally for almost 20 years and own all kinds of cameras. 35mm film, 120 film, instant cameras, point and shoot digitals, DSLR and mirrorless.. IMO, there really is no magic or secret sauce in film photography. I can just as easily take one of my early to mid 00s point and shoot with 4-6 megapixels, like the Canon G2 or Fuji F31fd and get a very filmic look with their rather soft lenses and CCD sensors that were designed to replicate film. I have small memory cards in them too, so neither one can take more than 60 photos which means I think about each shot as well. If I want a true film experience, I grab one of my Instax cameras, which has the added bonus of being medium format as opposed to 35mm and I dont have to get them devoloped. Want to talk about slowing down and thinking about each shot? 10 photos is all you get and with each shot costing around $1 (more for the wide film), you REALLY think about each shot 😃 Its all about shooting what makes you want to go out and take photos, whether thats film or digital.

I’ve been shooting film since 1982, both 35MM and medium format, still use my first camera I brought . Yes must confess I did buy a pentax Kx in 2009 because I was told film was dead and digital was the future lasted all of about 12 months went straight back to my film cameras although I found a use for the Kx as a preview camera along side my medium format cameras saved me wasting frames as I never owned a Polaroid back . There is something about using a manual 35mm manual camera digital cameras can not replicate.

Shooting with film is definitely rewarding but developing those shots into perfection is something that I've always wanted to in Black and White as a beginner.
