How to get a 488 PISTA and be a Ferrari VIP? (+488 GTB update)

#FerrariVIP #488Pista #488GTB

This week, TheCarGuys discuss what it takes to become a Ferrari VIP, and be invited in to the inner sanctum of rare and exclusive supercars? What do you have to do? Are bribes involved? Exactly how many cars do you need to buy to qualify for the special ones? How important is becoming a racing driver?
And why has Damian only done 1,000 miles in his new 488 GTB?
All these questions and more are answered in this week’s episode.

Thank you for watching

Regular episodes include: Real World Tests, Car Buying Challenges, Meet Your Heroes, This Week’s Rant and Top 5s.

How to get Ferrari's attention:
1. Be richer
2. Don't be Salomondrin

I love hearing the honest and knowledgeable commentary you make in all of your videos.

I was highly critical of your 458 vs. 488 video, but you responded in a positive and objective fashion. Having owned a 458 and now a 488,  I consider myself a cognoscente of these models.  I love both but the 488 is a huge improvement in performance and dare I say styling (I know we disagree here but the mustache front facia, and the blank canvas 1/4 panels were disappointing design features) .  Be that as it may, I agree with most of your comments on the 488 in this video and appreciate the contributions you make to the supercar community at large.  Thank you!

Damian I have almost all of those models you described but I have not been invited to the inner circle?

I'm looking at them right now!
They look exquisite in their little glass boxes
I'm really pissed off! 😡

This is one of the best and most informative car channels I've come across and I'm subscribed and watch quite a few! Great work!!

Another good informative vid Damian.

I generally watch your videos once then go back a second time after a day or so to see if I had missed anything.

This is the 1st Video I've gone back to watch a 3rd time. It's the info in the content of this one that makes it with a 3rd viewing.

Keep on keeping on, it'll all come good. Your passion is infectious buddy.

My 488 is spectacularly speced and I have loved my time with it! Was my first ever super car and will always have a special place in my heart. I recently back in March bought a very nice 458! Although not as fast as my 488 I love it! That sound is irreplaceable. Will only sell it one day if I buy a Speciale! I am trading my 488 for a 2020 like new Pista and cannot wait to take delivery...!

You forgot to mention that Ferrari also takes age and social media influence into account. Younger people will tend to spend more with Ferrari over their lifetime and having a big outreach is great from an advertising perspective. However, your behaviour on social media is important too. Salomondrin is young and has millions of followers but flips his cars (this is also frowned upon) and curses in his videos. Car manufacturers don’t want to be associated with foul language.

Interesting content, I purchased a 458 nearly 2 years, have been astounded at the level of involvement in all things Ferrari, Factory visit in 2018, Ferrari cavalcade from Central London and much more, it’s brilliant marketing and the feeling of being part of the ‘family’ is absolutely correct!

I own a 458 Spider. It’s my third Ferrari you have described the process of getting in the club well. You could also mention Ferrari also wants you to hold onto your cars and not flip them plus always trading into the dealer so they can make money again when the time comes is important. If you sell privately you will get a taken off the good guy list fast

First time watching your videos. Really liked it and just subscribed. I felt like I was just having coffee and talking to another car guy. Appreciate your humbleness, many other owners are arrogant and I want to avoid them because of their attitude. Owning any Ferrari has been a childhood dream of mine. I’m still not there yet.

This is exactly why I'm here, watching every video you guys make...! Can't wait for the 488 Pista...! Cheers.

Interesting video - thx for posting. I owned several porsches for a while and once I bought a new black 911 4s, a certified (used) white 2011 boxster spider, and then a black cayman S for track duty... they started inviting me to events they sponsored (horsey things in VA) and eventually offered me a cayman gt4 slot when they 1st were announced. Point being I agree that if you buy several cars, new especially, from them they start to notice. I have to believe those involved in racing would be offered anything premium before others which only makes sense.

Execellent, honest video. For me I’m annoyed with Porsche, I’m far from their best customer I’ve owned erm four over the last 20 plus years, so well off their radar. However I’m very passionate as you know about 911’s. The reason I want to own and drive a Porsche for me is all about ownership the driving experience and the value proposition that underpins this. That’s price, resale and cost of ownership. I am genuinely frustrated that my chance of buying a new GT3 is close to zero, I ran the 964 RS register for years, I am passionate and knowledgeable (anorak) and ‘get’ Porsche. But alas I saw over 40 991.2 GT3’s for sale last year at dealerships. At one time there were more 991 GT3’s for sale than any other 911 model at dealerships. Oh and by the way the vast majority of 991.2’s were not yet run in.... I would have married Porsche, stayed loyal, etc, etc and yes KEPT the car if I had been allowed to buy a new GT3. Instead I paid over to get a low mileage 991.1 GT3. Yes I love the car, but I am an outcast of no interest from Porsche. I don’t mind that, hey I’m small fry, small beer and they won’t make a heap of cash from me. But I do think Manufacturers need to build their brands on the back of a little bit more transparency and integrity. The majority of Porsche buyers finance their cars because they need to, the small privileged few don’t add up to very much I suspect. I would have thought it’s about supporting their brand and marketing. Hence the JWW’s, the Schmee’s. Trouble is for me I’m very bored of their content and I hate bl**dy ceramic coating, PPF and wrapping. Maybe I should think about a plastic seat cover business. I remember a neighbour in the 70’s kept the plastic covers on his car for 10 years, which added £10 on resale, made him sweat, slide around and the car look even worse.. I think I need more coffee, sorry for being old n grumpy....

Best car content currently on You Tube. On my way home from City; makes the travel on South Western Trains so much more doable! Cheers!

Great video as usual. I think giving customers who actually use the car and not garage it for a year and then flip it is fair way of allocating. I reckon you'll get more kudos with manufactuers now you've got this awesome channel with such great content, well I hope so?!

Brutally honest Damian 👊 and something i very much respect , extremely rare in youtuber circles , as everyone seems to be a brand ambassador / promoter for whomever pays them a retainer or provides 5 star hospitality at the very least in return for favourable reviews . I saw on a different channel someone was "advised " to buy a portofino to get on the "VIP client list " as it hasn't sold that we'll apparently. 👍👍👍

Great video, can’t wait for you to get your Pista, In Canada I drive a 2018 Porsche Carrera, but I really want to get a GT3 touring manual, but my dealer tells me “good luck getting one”, just as you commented, I need to race them, own many, and spend a lot of one of those frustrated clients!
