This is one of THOSE games isn't it, the one that is super depressing but tries to fill you up with hope.

Imagine working for Grace, setting your life aside to cover for her at the last minute, and, as payment, you get a first aid kit and a can of meat that has to be kept in a safe for some reason. You'd immediately know you're an ancillary character who must die soon because that weird but specifically limited payment (seriously, just _one_ can?) doesn't belong to you. It belongs to the protagonist, which you clearly must not be. So unless you can come up with a questline that can guarantee a softlock in the event of your death, you are going down.

I like how the loading screen tips are phrased as short conversations between Anling and Cody. It's those sort of little details that tell you if a game has real heart in it.

In the zombie apocalypse you always want to ration food for a pet, they are more likely to sense danger before you do.

I'm an aunt- a very devoted aunt, and I would absolutely do this for the kiddos in a zombie apocalypse. The good news is I have a nephew and a LOT of nieces, so they could help each other remember things. The oldest two can also read, which is a plus because I have a veritable library of survival-type books (including quite a few on farming/gardening which would be of great use to re-creating a sustainable society). One of my nieces is already really into first aid- another bonus. Another is extremely nimble and climbs like a monkey- helpful for getting to hard-to reach places. We just need to teach them how to construct adequate barricades and they're set 👍

I hope there's an end game where you'll play as the kid, surviving in the continuation of the zombie apocalypse and keeps continuing to the point that he'll be the new teacher.

The story is similar to the First Episode of the Walking Dead Game. You are some guy transported to prison the day the zombie apocalypse began. The Sheriff taking you to prison has an accident when zombies invade the road. You escape from your handcuffs and the zombies and you meet Clementine, a young girl you'll take under your protection and who you'll also prepare to survive. Long story short, at the last part of the game you are bitten by a zombie and before you turn, you save Clementine, give her directions where to go, then you lock yourself to the radiator and watch her as she goes away.

Has a bit of "This War of Mine" feel to it. The mechanics are kind of similar.

In real-life, a lot of parents of course have health issues where they know they have a few years left... Anyhow, awesome game setting to engage the player!

I agree with being able to craft from your storage. If the developers want you to have to spend the time to gather the goods, then just have an option to add time to the crafting if you are pulling items from storage, but don't make the player spend their real life time on something so minuscule.
