Gatsby died thinking the phone call was from Daisy but in reality the phone call was from the only person who truly cared about him: Nick😞

There's this great line Daisy says at the beginning "the best things a girl can be in life is a fool...a beautiful fool" and there's irony in that because Gatsby essentially becomes this...delusional about love, about wealth, dying thinking he was loved

I can't believe Leonardo DiCaprio actually died for this role, what a dedicated actor.

I like how the second gun shot is perfectly timed to coincide with Gatsby hitting the water

I didn’t get this movie when I was younger but now I understand that Daisy belongs to the streets.

How to not die as Leonardo DiCaprio
Step 1. Don’t be near water
Step 2. Don’t love a girl named after a flower
Step 3. Don’t have your name start with J

Daisy actually gave calling him a thought. In the other versions she completely forgot about him

I choose to believe that Nick cared for Gatsby more than any other character.

I love the short sequence of Daisy looking at the phone, wondering if she should call Gatsby and tell him she's leaving Tom. I think the tragedy of Daisy is that like Willoughby in Sense and Sensibility, she loved him...but not enough.

i can’t stop thinking about how phenomenal his face was when he was “shot”. amazing acting. it’s the first time i’ve seen someone act out getting shot and i actually believed that they felt it, not the usual boring shocked expression.

Titanic and great gatsby really screwed over Leonardo dicaprio

Another sad thing is he was accused of killing Myrtle and even tho he said he would take the blame for this woman who clearly didn’t love him, he died with everyone thinking that he was a murderer. He also died looking at the green light and daisy’s house as if he longed to be there and I think that in his final moments he imagined he was

I'm obviously not comfortable about Jay's death and Daisy but I'm also sad about Wilson's death too. I think he deserved to learn the truth about Tom and Mertle, and truth about Mertle's death.

what would be kinda sad about this part is if gatsby thought that it was daisy who was on the phone, that for his last breath, his last moments (both before and after being aware that he was gonna die) and not nick, making him think that she loved him that much and it made him satisfied that for that moment he had her and that confirmation so it’s like this false hope but actually it was nick and that daisy didn’t even make the call and was hesitant about it

Man this hits hard when you are older. All that wealth, and lifetime of hard work. Gatsby was so clinged to the past. He wanted to reinforce the relationship with him and Daisy. But Daisy has already found someone who provides for her luxurious and attention needs. Maybe at some point Daisy loved Gatsby but that was so many years ago. People change and not always for the better. Love can make you do crazy things. But for Gatsby his heart was at the right place in the wrong time.
